James E

James started taking Suzuki piano lessons at the age of 4 in Canton, Ohio from Dorothy Ling. His passion for music really took off when he discovered the music of John Williams and started playing the Star Wars theme and Indiana Jones by ear at the age of 10. In high school, he sang and accompanied the choir and barbershop quartet, and he also played in the jazz ensemble band as a keyboardist. In college he joined several jam-band musical groups in Columbus, OH and started performing as an entertainer in local Jazz clubs and dueling piano bars. After college, he toured internationally on various cruise lines for several years and eventually landed in Los Angeles where he became a session musician with recordings on 5 albums. In recent years, he has composed music for 3 feature films, 5 award-winning short films, 2 award-winning episodic series, and has composed EDM music for video games and commercial applications. He has a Master's Degree from University of Phoenix in Secondary Education with a focus in Career Technical Education, Digital Music Production, and Physics.

James really enjoys using the advancing technologies for home studio recording and arrangement, creating 3D spatial music and sound design for virtual reality, using high fidelity sampled plug-ins for orchestration, and exploring the different ways music can be composed and performed for therapeutic purposes as a lifelong healing tool.

James enjoys teaching various styles including Classical, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Pop, New Age, and EDM, and anything composed by Elton John / Billy Joel.

James is available for in person lessons on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for piano, voice and music production.
