Music is my passion! When I was a small child before my dad went off to work he would tell me to not touch or listen to the radio. When he left, I would listen to it and sing along the whole time. I would listen to my mom play piano every day and as soon as I could reach the keys, I started to play. I found out that my dad had a guitar in the closet that he used to use in a band. He would let me take it out if I was careful and let me play it.
When I was in middle school some of my friends asked if I was going to try out for the band. I auditioned for trombone and highly enjoyed playing and marching with the band in middle school and all through high school. After high school, I wanted to try something a bit different and that was when I got serious about singing and playing guitar in bands.
I studied contemporary and classical vocal performance, contemporary guitar performance, and music business in college. I have a B.A. in Music Business with a minor in Vocal Performance from McNally Smith College of Music as well as an A.A.S. in Vocal and Guitar Performance from Lake Michigan College. It was when I was in college that I discovered my passion for teaching music lessons and mentoring incoming music students.
I have an appreciation for all music from classical to punk to country to metal! I have extensive performance experience from being in cover bands, performing my original music, and choirs. I engage the students in learning while having fun, and I am very patient and love to teach. I teach voice, piano, and guitar.
