Rick L.

Rick knew when he first picked up a guitar, that this would be a life long passion.
Funny enough, his first guitar was found in someone else’s trash.

“At first, I was completely taken by bands like Metallica and Pantera. It was a type of music and attitude that was extremely new to me. The obsession of rock music led to analyzing song structure and melody. I wanted to grasp the understanding of what I was hearing and how it was created,” says Lambert.

As time went on, Rick’s goal became to be the fastest guitar player in the west, idolizing legends like Paul Gilbert and Marty Friedman. Music was always an outlet to express a bigger part of himself that he never realized.

After graduating high school, it was time to make a huge life change. Rick moved to Los Angeles to attend the reputable, Musicians Institute. “Life in LA was an extreme contrast to what I was accustomed from growing up in Wisconsin. I learned a ton of valuable knowledge about music theory, performance, and music business from some of the biggest names in the industry.”

Upon completing his degree in guitar performance, Rick had the opportunity to perform around Los Angeles with various bands at well-known Hollywood venues, including a packed room at House of Blues on The Sunset Strip. Eventually Rick decided to move to Austin to begin teaching as well as performing.

“Teaching has been something intuitive to me. I give the same advice and knowledge that I know I needed and wanted when I began. I strongly believe anything can be accomplished through hard work and perseverance.”

“I like to think of myself as a guider. Essentially, I help to guide my students in the direction of their own musical passion whether that be blues, jazz, rock, ect… Once that barrier is broken nothing can stop the natural progression.”
