Jon is a multiinstrumentalist who got his start on the trombone when he was 10. He fell in love with music and shortly thereafter started playing piano, guitar and trumpet. He pursued music in college and received a bachelor of music from DePaul University in Chicago. He has been a professional freelance musician for 15 years and private teacher for the past two.
Jon regularly performs in and around Austin with bands My Jerusalem, Monk Parker, the Austin 9’s and Groove Knights, and has also had the opportunity to perform with Grammy award winners the Wallflowers, the Psychedelic Furs, and Ximena Sarinana. He has toured the US and Europe, opening up for acts like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, the Avett Brothers, Sting and more.
As a teacher, Jon believes that learning music should first and foremost be fun. He thinks that if a student is excited about what they are doing, they will be more likely to succeed in that endeavour. Jon loves teaching people what they want to learn while adding lessons on technique, music theory, and ear training along the way. He to strives not only teach them to play an instrument, but also help them develop a love and understanding of music.
