Deborah received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from Biola University. She spent a summer at the Aspen Music Festival prior to attending graduate school at the University of Southern California, where she received a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Arts. While at USC, she was active in the Opera Workshop program working with distinguished conductors.
Following graduate school, she performed with LA Opera, where she fulfilled a lifelong dream of sharing a stage with her favorite tenor, Plácido Domingo! She also sang with the LA Master Chorale, performing at the Hollywood Bowl under the direction of Zubin Mehta. She had the privilege of once again joining her favorite Tenor at Dodger Stadium in the chorus for “Encore: The Three Tenors.”
Deborah performed in various operas, oratorios, and other classical stages throughout Southern California. She was the Soprano Soloist at First Presbyterian Church for several years under the direction of Dr. Fred Bock, as well as a guest soloist at other Los Angeles area churches. She also pursued other musical avenues, including musical theatre, pop standards, and TV and film work. She traveled to New York to sing with Davis Gaines in a workshop production of the dramatic musical, Masada, and was seen on stage at Actors Co-op in Hollywood in several productions, including Into The Woods, God & Shakespeare, Jerry’s Girls, Sentimental Journey: A 1940s Supper Club, and Peter & Wendy. Film and TV credits include The Nanny, Boston Public, Seabiscuit, Detroit Rock City, and X-Men: The Last Stand. Her solo concert, A Few of My Favorite Things, was an evening of 1940s pop standards in collaboration with pianist David Kennedy.
Since relocating to the Austin area, she has performed with the Starlight Symphony as guest soprano soloist for performances of Messiah, as well as An Evening of Grand Italian Opera, Seasonal Christmas concerts, and their annual Benefit Fundraising Gala concerts.
In addition to voice instruction, Deborah teaches general music and drama classes at a private school in Dripping Springs.
