My earliest memory of music was my parents playing things like The Oak Ridge Boys and Handel’s Messiah. Later on, I got into bands like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and Jimi Hendrix. I have always been interested in a variety of genres and believe inspiration can be drawn from anywhere.

I received a music degree from Lake Forest College in Illinois, where I studied guitar, piano, and music theory. After graduating, I studied with some of the top drummers in Chicago, and their influence informs my teaching style. I played professionally in bands in the styles of rock, funk, jazz, country, and even a Ukrainian wedding band.

I really enjoy teaching, and I love to see my students succeed in playing something they didn’t think they could handle. I pride myself in being able to communicate ideas in ways that they understand, because we all learn differently.

For now, I play bass and drums in a local church.  Being somewhat new to Austin, I look forward to becoming part of the local music scene.
