As a former artist before musician, I can express great similarity between the two mediums. Colors are arranged in a deliberate manner that influences our emotions, senses, and intellect. This is the same with sound and harmony. I’ve been seriously playing and studying music since I was a teen, and the course has been an endless drive to discover new ideas, techniques, and styles. The guitar has been my principle instrument of expression for 12 years now. I appreciate and love all forms of music from the Beatles to Bach, U2 to Death Metal, and Progressive rock to Fusion. Music is for all, and for a long time I have believed that anyone can achieve playing the music they love with hard work and dedication.
I have a bachelor’s degree in classical guitar performance from Texas A&M Corpus Christi and am currently embarking on a Music Composition Masters at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. My mission is to allow students to discover their drive for playing music by carefully guiding them towards a deep appreciation and respect for the art. They will learn how to cultivate their own discipline and sound, which will set a positive tone that they can carry into every aspect of life.
